Borussia and Puma unveil new home and away kits

Gladbach and kit manufacturers Puma have jointly revealed the Foals’ home and away jerseys for the 2024/25 season. With the timeless designs in black, white and green, the Herzogenaurach marque and the club have once again struck a balance between traditional design and modern aesthetics.

The design of the home kit is reminiscent of the team’s jersey from the 1974/75 season, when the Foals claimed a first UEFA Cup title under the leadership of legendary coach Hennes Weisweiler and captain Berti Vogts. A side including the likes of Jupp Heynckes, Rainer Bonhof and Allan Simonsen secured the Cup with a stunning 5-1 second-leg final victory over FC Twente, on a night which still remains one of the most famous in the club’s history.

Wide green stripes, framed by finer black stripes, form the front of the new home jersey and stylishly foreground Borussia’s new primary sponsor REUTER. The conical elements within the green stripes create contrast and are reminiscent of the shape of the famous UEFA Cup trophy. The years of the 1974/75 success are featured on the name of the neck in homage to that special continental success. The jersey is completed by a green round neck collar and a green border on the sleeves.

The away jersey is sure to stand out with its rich green colour, and continues the conical design elements from the home jersey as a full-shirt pattern. White and black vertical elements around the rib area add depth to the design, which is rounded off by a black and green V-neck collar and black-bordered sleeves.

“We are especially pleased that our new home and away kits commemorate our UEFA Cup win, exactly 50 years on from when we won it for the first time. The design of the jerseys reflects the combination of tradition and modernity at Borussia,” says Andreas Schumacher, Head of Merchandising at the Foals. “We are also pleased that our partners REUTER and Sonepar have adapted the colours of their logos on the new kits to match those of the jersey and thus blend seamlessly into the design.”

Innovative RE:FIBRE technology

Puma has produced the new jerseys using its innovative RE:FIBRE technology. The RE:FIBRE process focuses on waste textiles as the main source of material for the production of new clothing. The process allows recycled material to be used again and again in manufacturing without any loss of quality, making it a sustainable long-term solution for recycling polyester waste.

The replica jersey combines the same look with sweat-wicking dry-CELL technology, which ensures that fans remain sweat-free and comfortable throughout even the most stressful of games. Suitable for both matchdays and everyday wear, the replica jersey is also made using the RE:FIBRE process and is composed of a minimum of 95% recycled textiles. The jersey is both a fashion statement and a piece of high-level sporting equipment.

The Authentic jersey, meanwhile, is made from Puma’s ULTRAWEAVE material, which combines reduced weight and friction with an athletic fit for top performance.
